Hurricane Matthew began in the Caribbean as a category 5 storm and is now moving towards the southern coastal US. Currently a category 3, the storm is predicted to move up the coast causing wind damage, heavy rains and flooding in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Potential for structural damage, downturned trees, and widespread power outages have caused the region to declare a State of Emergency. Residents have been evacuated due to the threat of flooding and tornados in the wake of the storm.
